Data loggers are used in motorsport to improve lap /stage times by optimising the vehicle set up and honing driving technique. A data logger can be as simple as recording engine revs for reviewing at a later date. Most data loggers used in motorsport are multi function multi channel and can record all engine parameters such as revs, pressures, temperatures, throttle and levels as well as suspension and steering parameters like steering angle and damper travel. Most data loggers also include G meters and GPS which allows the system to generate a 'track map'. This can be used to calculate speeds and cornering forces at any point on the tracks so you can pinpoint where time is being lost or gained and take steps to improve on that section.
