A strut brace is designed to add an extra element of rigidity to the chassis of a car around the suspension pick up points. This can improve the handling characteristics as the suspension geometry alters less under cornering forces. The most popular type of strut brace fixes to the front strut tops with a bar connecting the two sides. Lower strut braces usually fix to the front suspension arms or wishbones and the connecting bar runs under the engine / gearbox. Braces are also available to fit the rear suspension turrets on some vehicles.
