Spidi was founded in 1977 by Renato Dalla Grana, as a racing glove manufacturer. In 1979 they had their first taste of world championship success in the 500cc world championship with Kenny Roberts and by 1989 Spidi began production of other motorcycle apparel. In 1996 the first CE certified protectors were being installed into their jackets, whilst 1997 saw John Kocinski win the World SBK Championship wearing Spidi. 1999 saw Spidi release the first airbag jacket on the motorcycle market, whilst 2002 was a signature year with major championship wins from Marco Melandri (250GP World Championship) and Colin Edwards (WSBK Championship). Multiple championships have been won since with Nico Terol (125GP 2011), and Aleix Espargaro taking the title in the CRT class in 2012 and 2013.
Each and every SPIDI project is created and developed in Italy, with a team of designers and developers constantly reaching for new ideas to blend the motorcycling world together with the latest fashion trends.
